Hey, it’s March already!

March 1st, 2007 by Wellwrittenwords

We’re already in our third month of the year. That’s amazing. How many of us are on track to achieve the goals we set for ourselves for 2007? I admit I’m a little behind, but that’s because I had a couple of projects come up that were totally unexpected.

That’s the beauty of planning well–you leave space for serendipitous blips on your radar! :)

If you haven’t set some goals, now is the time to do it. It’s never too late.

What kind of goals should you be setting? Well, for one thing, searching out new gigs. Another item that is always high on my list is learning new things. It’s never too late for that either. Is there some skill you wish you had? Can you think of an accomplishment that would help your clients see you as a more valuable contributor (think higher fees here)?

As you will have noticed, I’m a fan of Peter Bowerman. His books have shown countless writers how to improve their self-marketing skills in a friendly, down-to-earth way. He’s planning a new book, and is looking for stories, so why not go on over to the WellFedWriter and take a look, to see if you can get included in the 2008 version.

Also, I’m trying out a new tool that shows promise as a totally new way to get noticed online. I’m not making any promises, just letting you know it’s out there, because I’m just trying it out myself. It’s easier than creating a list, more effective than email, and a lot less of a headache than a website. Intrigued?

As always, if anyone has any great ideas that might help other writers expand their business or find projects that pay well, we’re all ears. :)
