The Manifesto

Manifesto for Freelance Writers

Take Yourself Seriously

You’re in the busines of writing. If you don’t plan to make a living, and by that I mean a good living, you might just as well give up now and go stock shelves at the supermarket.

Create a dream for yourself. Close your eyes and imagine your life the way you want it to be. What do your surroundings look like? What do you feel like? Who are you?

Educate Yourself

Of course it’s not as simple as just closing your eyes and imagining. The dream part is vital, but you also need to next create a road map to get there. Need education? A peace of paper is nice, but you can get just about all the information and how-to on becoming a writer right here on the Internet, and 90 percent of it is absolutely free. All it will take is your time.

Get Clients

Especially in the beginning, work won’t just ‘come to you,’ You’ll need to work hard at it. Apart from scanning the job boards, you’ll need to make contacts and make sure potential clients know you exist.

One of the best ways of achieving this is networking. Jjoin networking communities and get your name out there. Online networking communities inlcude:

  • LinkedIn
  • Xing
  • Later, I’ll also be providing a PDF for anyone who wants to download it.
